When: Sunday, May 5, 9-10:30 a.m.
Where: Begin and end at the hole in the fence behind 301 Traynor
Walk Leader: James Howe
We will make the trek from the Traynor-Vanier neighbourhood to get groceries from the Food Basics on Fairway Road and back. On the way there, we will take the official long route and see the many services that are just on other side of the LRT tracks that are cut off by two fences. We will use the unofficial crossing to return.
This walk will focus on the need for a safe crossing that returns much needed walkability to this neighbourhood, the history of advocating for that crossing and the likelihood that if will be built in 2019. To make the trip realistic, please plan to buy some groceries at the store. They could be for your personal use or the walk leader will arrange to donate them to the food bank. Here’s a suggested shopping list:
- 2 or 5 litres of milk (to be given directly to T-V residents)
- peanut butter in a medium or large jar
- bag of rice
- can of chick peas
- box of granola bars
If driving, please find street parking. Don’t use the apartment’s parking.
